Composite Mold Fabrication & Fiberglass Tooling

Built for Repeatability. Built for Production.

Built for Repeatability. Built for Production.

A good composite part starts with a good mold.

At LEVEL 08 Composite Structures & Fabrication, we design and manufacture custom composite molds and fiberglass tooling for customers who need accurate, durable, production-ready tooling—not something that works once and becomes a problem later.

From our manufacturing facility in Cocoa, Florida, we support projects ranging from one-off prototype tooling to molds intended for repeated production of fiberglass and composite components.

Whether you already have completed drawings, a CAD model, an existing component, an old mold, or simply an idea that needs to be developed, our team can work with you to determine the practical path from concept to finished mold.

Our experience in fiberglass and composite manufacturing dates back to 1991, giving us a practical understanding of what matters once a mold actually reaches the production floor: dimensional consistency, surface quality, durability, ease of demolding, repairability and repeatable results.

How Our Composite Molds Are Built

Level 08’s typical composite mold fabrication process, showing the layered construction used to build durable, high-quality FRP molds for repeat production. From the tooling gelcoat and surface veil to the skin coat, structural fiberglass laminate, stiffening reinforcements, and wood support frame, each layer plays an important role in achieving surface quality, dimensional stability, and long-term mold performance. This type of composite mold fabrication helps ensure reliable part consistency, efficient manufacturing, and the strength needed for demanding fiberglass production applications.

Tooling Designed Around the Part You Need to Build

There is no universal mold design.

The correct mold depends on the geometry of the finished component, expected production quantity, laminate system, surface-finish requirements, demolding method and the manufacturing process that will ultimately be used.

That is why LEVEL 08 approaches composite mold fabrication as part of the overall manufacturing process rather than simply building a shape.

We can develop tooling for simple open molds as well as more involved shapes, multi-piece tooling and repeat-production applications.

Depending on your project, we can work from:

  • Customer drawings or CAD files

  • An existing fiberglass or composite part

  • An existing mold requiring duplication or modification

  • Physical dimensions or templates

  • Prototype components

  • Customer concepts and sketches

  • Existing tooling that has reached the end of its useful production life

  • New OEM products being prepared for production

Our objective is straightforward: build tooling that allows the part to be manufactured accurately and repeatedly.

EXISTING MOLD DUPLICATION & MODIFICATION

Already Have a Mold or Part?

You may not need to start over.

If you have an existing mold, master or finished component, LEVEL 08 can evaluate whether it can be used as the basis for new tooling.

This can be particularly valuable when an older mold has deteriorated, production needs to be expanded, additional tooling is required for another manufacturing location, or an existing product needs dimensional changes.

We can also evaluate modifications to existing tooling when practical.

For companies with legacy fiberglass products but incomplete original tooling information, working from an existing component may provide a path toward restarting or expanding production.

COMPOSITE MOLD REPAIR & TOOLING MAINTENANCE

Fiberglass tooling has one important practical advantage: it can often be repaired rather than immediately replaced.

Normal production use, handling accidents and repeated demolding can eventually create surface damage, chips, cracks or localized wear.

Depending on the condition and construction of the mold, damaged areas may be repaired, resurfaced or reinforced to extend the useful life of the tooling.

Repairability can reduce production interruptions and protect the investment already made in a mold.

For severely damaged or aging tooling, we can also evaluate whether repairing the existing mold or producing replacement tooling makes more economic sense.
